2010 Scholarship Opportunities
2010 Annual Meeting of Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals
Paralyzed Veterans of America Scholarships
Policies & Procedures
As in the previous two years, Paralyzed Veterans of America is proud to offer scholarships for the Academy’s 2010 annual meeting scheduled for September 22-24 at Bally’s Las Vegas.
This year the registration for the annual meeting and the hotel will be offered at one website www.ASCIPro.org. Additionally you may submit your request to be considered for a Paralyzed Veterans’ scholarship at the same site. Please review the following policies & procedures carefully as they represent significant changes from previous years. The annual meeting registration website will open APRIL 15, 2010.
Definition: the 2010 scholarship will represent a designated two (2) nights’ credit for guestroom and tax only at Bally’s Las Vegas, not to exceed the meeting’s hotel guestroom rate $169/per night plus 12% tax for a total of $189.28. Recipients MUST be dues-paid members of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals. Their Bally’s guestroom reservations must comply with the contracted “meeting guestroom block.”
- Designated two (2) nights’ credit: the 2010 scholarship will cover guestroom and tax charges for only September 23 & 24, 2010 at Bally’s Las Vegas.
- Dues-Paid: eligibility for a 2010 scholarship is restricted to Academy members whose annual renewal dues are paid-in-full by April 1, 2010 and who book their guestrooms at Bally’s. New members of the Academy also will be eligible if their membership dues are paid-in-full by August 31, 2010.
- Hotel Reservations: the Academy is under contractual obligations to Bally’s Las Vegas for guestroom nights. To receive the scholarship, your reservations MUST qualify for the “Academy’s Guestroom Block.” Hotel reservations made using a premium program, coupon, travel credit program, Expedia, Travelocity or any other method, including government rate reservation will not be included in the “Academy Guestroom Block’ by the hotel.
- Hotel Reservation Procedure: On or prior to the hotel reservation cut-off date, August 19, 2010, recipients should make hotel reservation online at www.ASCIPro.org or call the Hotel at
1-877-603-4389 and identify yourself with the ‘Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals Annual Meeting.” All reservations MUST be guaranteed with a deposit for the first night’s guestroom and tax. If the reservation is guaranteed to a credit card, the first night’s guestroom and tax charges will be billed immediately to the card holder’s account. - Hotel Cancellation Policy: Bally’s allows individual attendees the right to cancel their guestroom reservations without penalty up to seventy-two (72) hours prior to the attendees’ scheduled arrival date. Hotel will charge the individual attendee one (1) night’s guaranteed guestroom rate plus tax for cancellation within seventy-two (72) hours of the scheduled arrival date. Any remaining nights of a ‘no show’ reservation will be canceled. It is policy to require a credit card or cash deposit for incidental charges.
- Application: the 2010 scholarship application will be part of the annual meeting’s online registration system www.ASCIPro.org. Upon registration, you will receive an immediate confirmation. Your scholarship request approval, if not stated on your registration confirmation, will be sent via email within 48 hours. The online registration site will open April 15, 2010.
- Guestroom Sharing: the 2010 scholarship applies only to the guestroom nights. For eligible attendees sharing a guestroom, there will be only one scholarship for the designated 2 nights per guestroom.
- Reservation Name: Academy members should remember to make their hotel reservation in the same name used for their membership. Any other name, i.e. married name or hyphenated name, not currently in the membership database creates difficulties matching the Academy membership list with the hotel guestroom list.
- Deadline: scholarship applications to be included in the hotel credit system must be approved by September 1, 2010. All subsequent applications will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
